Its clear, that adults we are more involved in solving the issues that we have been generating in our lives, than dealing with future problems that kids will inherit .
Greta Thunberg and the #fridaysForFuture showed us that this needs to change. If we join all together to stop climate change and all the other issues we have been generating for a century now, we still have a chance.
As you may have heard, the swedish teenager Greta Thunberg , moved the world with #FridaysforFuture . On the 20th August 2018, she decided to start a strike and stopped attending High School . This act inspired many other students in Sweden and around the world to do the same. Maybe you have been in one of these strikes, I have , and it’s a beautiful experience.
Since I was a child, I was worried about how we humans were destroying the planet. I watched many Jean Jacques Cousteau documentaries, and was inspired by the NGO Greenpeace. I was very empathic with animals, and as many of us, was indoctrinated by society to be an obsessive consumer and a meat eater.
Thankfully my consciousness was strong and helped me resist this hungry capitalistic impulse that destroys our planet and its beautiful nature.
Today, 20 years later, I have come to the conclusion that we can’t solely rely on politicians to solve the worlds problems because they are tied by economic agendas, and hidden interests. The little results and slowness of the climate change agenda are a result of this status quo.
We should know that Big oil corporations and gas giants have long been paying politians under the carpets to block the advancement of true clean energies, which are less profitable for them than their decadent polutting ones.
Greta Thunberg is an example of what one kid can do to start a big movement. If kids are united enough by a common and noble goal, the world can tremble.
Who can be stronger and more energetic than a group of well organized and motivated young individuals?
Adults, sadly, have too little time to invest in saving the world, but kids have a lot of free time compared to them. I you are a kid, and by kid I mean, under 18, don’t take negatively, I mean no disrespect, you do have more free time, unless you are over 70 and retired, but then, you dont have the youth to support your actions.
Imagine if a head of goverment, decided to spend time playing video games instead of solving the country’s economic crisis, then nothing good could come out. But , you know yourself, be honest, and accept that you tend to kill time with playful activities.
Kid, if you are one, there is no time to waste! You can use as little as 2 hours a day to help the planet, and if we all did that , we could really save it!
Or do we want to live in a horrible future where nothing real is left alive, and we all depend on synthetic things all around us. Are we really that stupid?
How can you help
A school strike like the one started in Sweden by Greta Thunbeg is a great way to send adults a clear message. Now, they know they aren’t the only ones that have the power to decide! Who would adults be without kids? Kids are after all, the future of their genes! The future of their legacy!
You have the power!
If you love animals, wild nature and the beauty it brings to live, and want to be able to go on holiday to a beautiful beach without finding trash and dead animals everywhere, then get away from daily distractions!
Be like Greta Thunberg and be corageous!
Don’t be pessimistic, for anything to work , being optimistic and having the best attitude is the way to go. Start thinking that if we don’t try , we will never be able to tell a story where Greta Thunberg inspired kids to get up and fight for the future, and won.
True heroes are made, not born.
